Hi guys, I started my first placement a week and a half ago and I am really enjoying it (having ups and downs but I expected that) but I still havn't got anything signed off yet at all. I am aware that others in my cohort are getting certain things signed off e.g. taking bloods etc. but I literally havn't done anything to get signed off yet. It's really on my mind at the moment, I was justr wondering if people could let me know when they started signing things off/what is expected, thanks :)

Don't worry! I didn't get anything signed until Christmas of my first year, two months into placement. As for taking bloods, I didn't really start that until the end of my first placement, didn't crack it until second year. Just sit back and relax. Don't panic about getting stuff signed unless you're still in this situation in July!

My advice is not to listen what other people in your cohort have signed/done. The first placement triggers this competitive side of student midwives and makes some students feel that they are slow and behind everybody else... You will be fine :)

Dont worry about it! But have a good look through, and make sure you're aware of what you can get signed off for each placement. Theres been times where I've got a skill which is only done occassionally, e.g. cup feeding a baby, and doing it once with a random midwife and forgetting to get it signed off! This happened the other day!!

But for now you've got plenty of time!

P.S. I read the title as SINGING portfolio... that would be more fun! hehehe x
