Glad that she was happy with the outcome. Make sure she has plenty of pain relief. I saw my baby as soon as I woke up after my ga. Didn't get offered skin to skin with any of my babies and didn't think to ask!
    Very interesting COTW thanks

About 30-40minutes after the birth - as soon as she woke up (tbh they normally aren't fully round before baby is tucked up next to them.

Not sure if she had skin to skin as wasn't the midwife in theatre, I automatically do it in recovery

This might sound daft, but here goes anyway- the surgeon removes the placenta after the baby is born via c-section, right? 1) Im assuming the cord needs to be cut asap with a section? and 2) Is a synto injection given to the mum right after delivery as usual? Otherwise, how is the shearing of all the vessels facilitated?
....and a slight afterthought- I take it a woman continues contracting throughout the procedure? How does her body know to stop contractions when the baby doesnt descend and all the usual dilation etc occurs???

    1) cord is clamped and cut by obstetrician ASAP, you can get dad to shorten cord etc

    2) the anaesthetist gives IV syntocinon bolus and starts a drip at the same rate as a PPH automatically
