Almost exactly three years ago a newly qualified midwife Theresa Naish took her own life after wrongly thinking she was to blame for a baby's death. She did not receive the support she needed.

Theresa was not at fault but the 'system' was. It took away one of us, one of our shining stars.

We are thinking of you today Theresa, we send much love to your family, with special hugs for your Dad who has kindly given us permission to show us all how beautiful you were and how much you are missed.

It is this time of year, every year when I think of Theresa and about how important it is that we all support one another in this incredible career of rollercoaster highs and lows. I created and dedicated our SMNET Managing Emotions area to Theresa's memory in the hope that we can help prevent other such tragic losses by having a place online where you can always come and talk and people will always listen and support you.

Keep watching over us honey xx.

RIP, I think all midwives can understand the guilt you felt over something that was not your fault
