Helloo! I don't know if I'm making another thread that has already been made and clogging up the forum but I couldn't find one related to this anywhere. Although, if there is one I'd gladly be linked to it. I have been e-mailed back to go to a literacy and numeracy test at UWS and if I pass these I'll get an individual interview! :). Just wondering if anyone has been to one and can tell me what they are like?

    Thanksss :nurse:

I haven't been to one personally but the literacy test is not related and is basically to make sure you can string a sentence together. The numeracy is pretty straightforward too, half with calculator, half without. +,-,x and division, volume, conversion (mls, l), cant remember the proper names for the others but %ages and problem solving types. HTH a bit x

The literacy and numeracy tests are just like Binky says. They may have changed the format but last year I had 2 ladies interviewing me, one was the head of school and the other was a lecturer. Just try to relax and smile and let your passion for helping people shine through! And try to look neat and presentable without too much makeup. Good luck!

Thank you both! :). Should I wear smart/casual wear then? Nothing too smart. One of the maths lecturers at my college found out a few years ago that UWS done testing and he made up numeracy tests for examples for future students. Just going to do my best and like you said, show my passion :)

    Thanks again :)

No problem! Just go smart casual, I wore a grey shift dress with a cardi and flats if that helps!

    Hi Lorstar,

Had my testing day last Tuesday. I'll tell you a bit about what happened. First of all, all candidates waited at a large kind of reception area and a lady came and took all the necessary documents. Then after this, we all went into a classroom (there were about 20 of us) and were given a talk on the course. Then we had our numeracy and literacy tests.....they are really basic so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. After these were done, a 3rd year nursing student spoke for a wee while and we were allowed to ask her questions. During this, the admissions guy was marking all our tests. He came back to the room once he done this and told us all to wait out in the waiting area again. If we were successful in the tests we would be given an interview. The interview lasted about 15 minutes - it was a man who interviewed me and really put me at ease. The questions were pretty basic - he didn't ask anything that was supposed to catch you out in anyway.

Just be yourself on the day and don't worry - all the staff are quite bubbly and enthusiastic. We were told that all candidates would hear by the end of March about our result, if not sooner.

Hope this helps and good luck...you'll be fine! xxx
