Basically I spoke to Josie and the team about whether this would be appropriate for the site as my friend had a miscarriage at 14+4 her baby had passed away a week earlier. My friend said she would like us all to learn from her experience. Josie says that as students and midwives we may be involved in delivering tiny babies like him so for those who would like to know what to expect and feel ok to view pictures of a baby who has passed away at 13+4 then read on. If not click the back button. Josie would like to offer all of our condolences and thanks to my friend who is taking the brave step of supporting students learning at such a tough time in her life.

    RIP little man xx

I wanted to share a story and some pictures with you all... I've seen pictures of stillborn babies and neonatal deaths and although i find it sad I think it's excellent preparation for what we will be experiencing once we begin our path in midwifery. I know it's obviously going to be very different to 'real life' but I still think it's a good opportunity.

Now as I was saying most pictures I have seen are of stillbirths etc, very late into the pregnancy.. I don't think I've seen any pictures of such a young baby from a miscarriage. I'm sharing a couple of pictures below of a little baby boy that died at 13+4weeks, feel free to scroll down and look or feel free to click 'back'

    The Story:

Basically a friend of mine went to her scan at 14+4weeks on 10/01/2011 thinking the pregnancy was fine - no miscarriage symptoms, bleeding , pain etc but sadly the baby had no heartbeat. He had died when she was 13+4 weeks pregnant.

She was induced and he was born three days later on 13/01/2011, she had a retained placenta and ended up with a D&C after the birth.

So so sad :( my thoughts are with the family and all the other families who have to go through this. Really hits home the kind of awful scenarios we will have to deal with as midwives. xxx
