I've just started and ours will be in May so they do vary between each uni.

Viva is an oral exam where they ask you questions face-to-face - an on the spot exam (frightens me to death!). OSCEs are a practical exam where you 'act out' a situation you're given on the day eg a PPH, shoulder dystocia etc and are marked on it.

This is really interesting to read. We have an OSCE and viva combined at the end of each and every module. So usually Jan, Easter and July. If only they were once a year!

Ours were just called OCSEs but had a verbal part just as much - for example one of mine was on shoulder dystocia and after demonstrating all the moves etc you had to answer questions on how McRoberts worked

In the first year they are in January for 3 year students. Don't know if we have one every year or more than one. Thats the only one I know about so far! (September starters)
