Hi Honey! Just found out I'm unsuccessful in applying for midwifery so my plan is to now apply for adult nursing to start in 2013 :D I'm applying to cardiff and glamorgan. You gna be looking to get some work experience this year? I'm going to try, don't know where to start though! Xx

Hey hun, Sorry your were unsuccessful but you sound positive about the future so all is good :) Im sure things happen for reason. Yeah im looking for a part time/evening or weekend job. I've been looking at care work or healthcare assistant work. I've heard of bank work to but not sure if you have to be a student to do it or not. What about you? Xxx

It does help if you are a student because that counts towards nursing experience but that doesn't mean you can't apply or demonstrate other experiences and qualities that could contribute :) xx

Yeah I've gotta keep positive, gotta be honest with midwifery being so so competitive I wasn't expecting to get in anyway. Hopefully i'll have better chances with nursing this time especially if I manage to get experience.
So do you know how you go about getting it? Do you just contact the hospital and ask for some volunteering work?
Are you applying to start in Sept 13 or march? Xx

Thats true. Amazing really how they moan there isn't enough midwifes yet they aren't training as many as they could something like 25-30 people are trained a year its silly but i guess its money isnt it.

Well I've looked on my hospitals and some of them have info on there about how to apply etc. Care work ive been looking on the jobcentre. I finish my access June 2013 so will apply for Sept 13. Doubt ill get in first time though tbh but hey ho! You? Xx

I applied for glamorgan where they only have 11 places for midwifery! competition is very very tough!

Don't be so negative! Sounds to me like you've got all the qualifications and will have bags of experience too so I'm sure you'll be fine!!

I'm gonna contact the hospitals near me and see what I can do.. every little will help anyway! I got all my a levels 4 years ago but I'm currently doing and OU health and social course just so I have some recent study to add to my ps!

Which uni's are you going to apply to? Xx

I have two young children as well!! I've got a little boy that is 19months now and a little girl that is just 6 weeks! How old are your two? So that's why i'm only applying for glam and cardiff, glam is my first choice though coz it's only half an hour away!

It's lovely to know theres someone on here going through the same as me at the same time :) x`

    Hiya ladies!

I'm a care support worker (paid), I work for a agency that supplies nurses, care workers. It's a fab experience and you also usually get to do lots of course's that will look good on your application. There are plenty of jobs in the care sectors, just google care jobs in your local area.

    Good luck xx
