Hey I'm new! What does the 40th mean? Are your allowed to do something you couldn't at 39? It sounds amazing and so makes me want to do it!

    Thanks x

When you say catch do you mean like deliver and take out of cervix? I'm so o_O

That's so impressive, I can't wait until I can do all this and speak all the lingo! Well done Potbella!

Different things count as a "catch"
You could watch a waterbirth and physiological third stage where all you have done is observe, support and take obs/listen to fetal heart and it would count (as long as you haven't watched someone be hands on/the midwife with you has been hands off too/you would have been hands on if needs be)
Or it could be an incredibly hands on delivery, applying counter pressure as the head crowns and applying traction to help deliver the shoulders.
    Both would count.

Ahhh I see, so it mainly means you were the most hands on in the room? If anyone does more in the room to support the birth it doesn't count as a catch?
Deary me it's sounds very competitive! Haha x

Yup! The woman was diagnosed as 9cm dilated and cephalic about 20 mins by the admission unit so the LW midwife did not repeat the ve and left the woman to continue walking around the room. She started pushing spontaneously and the midwife took a look and low and behold there was a buttock and scrotum presenting at the introitus! It took her a moment to.rralise what it was at which point she calmly asked the woman to stop pushing and get up on the bed. She calmly explained what was happening and that any moment now a million people would come rushing into the room.... It was the first time she'd ever had to pull the buzzer... I wad one of the people that came running, more to have a nosy at what had happebed than do anything useful and I'm so glad I did! The doctor took over and intervened and the baby wasn't in a good way at birth but he quickly came around and stayed with mum. She did fantastically and I honestly believe if shed have stayed on all fours she would have birthed him without intervention.
