We are delighted to bring you this FANTASTIC opportunity from the great folks at 'Work the World'. Work the World are the UK's top provider of healthcare electives and this competition offers one student the chance to win a midwifery placement on their Ghana program in 2010.

It's an amazing prize - Ghana is a fascinating destination to both travel and work. Meals, accommodation, placement organisation and 24/7 support, both in the UK and overseas, are all included, as is airport pick up and local orientation.

The case studies they have had from previous students talk about how much hands-on time they had with clients, the experience they gained and the huge variety of cases they helped with. There are also some great rural healthcare options where students stay with local families. It's the perfect competition for all midwifery students.

To win this amazing prize you need to send them (not us!) a 500 word article telling them why you think you should be the one to get the reward. Be creative – what would a placement in Ghana mean to you? What would you hope to get out of the experience and what do you feel you could give back?

To enter and for more information go HERE!

Please read the terms and conditions HERE!

    FAB NEWS!!!

.....From Ruth at Work the World:

"I have some good news - the competition is open to anyone who has completed a minimum of 1 year in a relevant healthcare degree at the point they go on the placement. That means that even if you are embarking on your first year now, as long as you enter before 20th December, you ARE eligible to win the prize!

If you win, we will book your trip for your 2010 summer holidays."

I assume you need a certain amount of training under your belt - ie. not for us Sept 2009 starters? [Clutching at straws cos this does sound just out of this world!]

Alas no - my hunch was right - I checked the terms and conditions and you need to have "studied for a minimum of one year in a relevant healthcare degree at university". As the closing date is 20th December that ain't gonna be us lot!

Still all the students going into their second year and beyond can go for it. And maybe they'll run another one next year.
