WOW what a catch - my grandchild!

    Well not my catch but very nearly !!

    I got a call from my son at 12:05am this morning to say my daughter-in-law was in labour. Contractions every 5 mins lasting for about a minute, and could I come and collect my grandaughter as they needed to get to the hospital. I arrived at his house at 12:15am to find her in the car ready to go, popped my grandaughter into my car and waved bye.

    at 12:20am (just 5 mins later!) I got a frantic call from my son to say they had got half a mile down the road and had to stop the car as her waters had gone and the babys head was out !! He was shouting '' mum what do I do......'' then '' oh my God mum the baby's out !!''

    I spun the car round and dashed to where they had stopped to see my wonderful son cradling his wife and new daughter (still both in their front seats !) and my beautiful baby grandaughter instantly suckling on the breast.

    She was born at 12:21am and is wonderfully healthy. Ambulance arrived at 12:30am and paramedic cut the cord. By 12:50 they were in hospital and safe and sound.

    I was only 1 minute too late but the sight of them cuddling up in the car (and in tears) will live with me forever.... beautiful.

    UPDATE : Mum and baby ( 7lb 8oz ) now at home with dad and big sister.:>

    P.S Next one is to be a home birth and by then I will be qualified and DELIVERING ! I've told my son one midwife in the family is enough thankyou !! x x ;)
