Default What should I do?

Hi all. I have a bit of a dilemma. I live in a flat and my flat is quite isolated with only me and my neighbour using the east stairs. A few years back some people started dossing under the stairs. It was awful, they used the area to urinate in, take drugs and drink alcohol. The smell was awful. I rang my housing assosiation and they told me it wasn't their problema dn to ring the police. So I rang the police and they said I should ring my landlords. Eventually the police did come and after a few weeks they moved on.

Now this morning I open my front door to the same familiar smell. There they are again, fast asleep under the stairs. I don't know if to ring the police as it's not an emergency and I have no credit to ring the non emergency no. The girl I know for a fact is on methadone (sp?) I am not judging her for that I just dont think its very nice for my kids. Also she is quite mouthy and a bit of a nutter tbh and I don't feel safe. My hubby is out tonight and I can't even think about going to the shop as they are there. I feel for them in a way but what I spose I am saying is I don't want them here. It just intimidates me. I don't live in a really rough area or anything it's just the flats are an easy target for them as the keycode entry is broken.

God i'm sorry to go on............

What an awful situation to be in. Could you not speak to the housing association as they are responsible for the security of the building and as your landlord are responsible for the upkeep which includes the security keycode system.

I would write or email them explaining the situation ( scared in your home, children are afraid, the smell, threat and potential to be abused and the drugs) and say that you will also be speaking to the council. They are your landlord and if they had carried out repairs to the keypad you would not have the problems you do have. Maybe speaking to your neighbour and putting your complaint in writing as well as involving the police and your local councillor might encourage the housing association to get their repairs done. A bit of sympathy from the papers might push them a bit too. Also log all the calls made to the police and the housing association too as evidence.

Hope you can do something to sort this out soon.

Big hugs to you!

Get a locksmith in and get them to put a yale lock on the outside of the building with several keys. One for your neighbour, one for you and one for your landlords. Inform them that unless they're going to act on this complaint, you and your neighbour will be keeping the building locked
