Norman suggested a poem's thread, didnt know where it would go but here a poem I love, I sent it mumof6 this morning.
The Cord We are connected, My child and I, by An invisible cord Not seen by the eye. It's not like the cord That connects us 'til birth This cord can't been seen By any on Earth. This cord does it's work Right from the start. It binds us together Attached to my heart. I know that it's there Though no one can see The invisible cord From my child to me. The strength of this cord Is hard to describe. It can't be destroyed It can't be denied. It's stronger than any cord Man could create It withstands the test Can hold any weight. And though you are gone, Though you're not here with me, The cord is still there But no one can see. It pulls at my heart I am bruised...I am sore, But this cord is my lifeline As never before. I am thankful that God Connects us this way A mother and child Death can't take it away!

What a great thread Tasha! This is one of my favourites, understanding yet she did not have the good experience herself...
MIDWIFE by Mary S. Lofton Where were you, gentle midwife, when I Lay on the altar of the obstetric gods? You were not born yet or Were just a little girl at play I wonder what you were like As your steady eyes observed the world In the kindergarten of your life Did you early hear the whisper of Nature's power in the wind The crash of thunder that bursts the cloud And brings the endless drone of rain upon the earth? Did you always know the budding tree Takes many hours to give its fruit? At night in dreams, you heard the silent Cries of birthing women Who sought the comfort that never came Except through a groggy fog of chemicals from man In time you rose up, full grown at last, Too late for me to feel your tender hands But with my daughter now You form a safe cocoon around her bed And I sink back in memory and weep once more For all that might have been. --copyright Mary S. Lofton, mother of a birthing woman

I wrote a poem not long after my dear Dad passed away, but I don't feel it is appropriate to post it here.
Writing, poems and music can say so much more at times like this. Thanks for sharing these lovely poems. xxx

Missy I hope that one day you do feel able to share, i think poetry is amazing and wish I could find the words to write it, and I am sure your dad was very proud watching down on you reading the love you have for him (( ))

Thanks Tasha,
I will share it, but I felt this thread was meant for poems for those who have lost a child, so it just didn't seem appropriate to add mine here. xxx

No this thread the poems are for everything, a child who has been lost, a parent, a poem to do with midwifery, one that made you smile, what ever it is, it would be nice to share it here.
We would be honoured if you would share it with us, if and when you want to of course
