hiya ive just started writing my personal statement and ive just started access. i guess its just to get a head start for when ucas opens in a few months - and after all, it needs to be perfect coz it could make all the difference when applying. it never hurts to start thinking about one but i guess it depends when u are wanting to apply. if it is 2010 then id start giving it some thought now.. if its 2011+ then its not so much of a priority. hope that helps laura Xx

Hi gem25, you don't need to start worrying about your ps yet. Thinking about it sure, but not worrying! You still have lots of time to get it sorted, but as sexxymummy says, the more time you give yourself the better. It also depends how confident you feel about writing about and selling yourself. You want it to be perfect, so only you can judge how much time you need to do it in. The earliest you can send it in is the 15th Sept and the deadline is the 15 Jan 2010. Good luck x

Hi Sharon, I think there may be some information on UCAS, but it would be very general. There is an excellent thread on here for personal statement guidance Personal Statement Guidance that is more midwifery specific. Hope that helps. AM x

H AutumnMaple i'm new on here so just working my way around the site (i'm sure i'll get used to it) but anyway the thread you recommened for personal statements is really good. I'm in the middle of doing a taster course on the role of a midwife at the uni at the mo and the lecturer has said the PS is the most important thing that we'll do, i'm due to start an access course in Sept. which i'm doing over 2 years so won't be applying ubtil 2011, but all i can think about is my personal statement. I feel like i'm thinking about it constantly, i think i'll put pen to paper to write some ideas this may stop me stressing about it so much lol |

Hi Buffy, your ps is really important as that is all the university can go on for inviting you to interview. I think it is a great idea for you to start writing stuff down. If you do it now, you can add and edit it over the next year and get it absolutely perfect and as you say, it may stop you worrying about it Although you still have loads of time before you need to get yours ready, if you ever want someone to read over it, feel free to pm it me. I would be more than happy to.AM x
