Smile Applying next year

Hi all, I'm Amanda and I'm going to be applying for the UEA next year. I'm currently studying an Open Uni course in Understanding Healt and Social Care, just to get me back into studying. I have a marketing degree, which I got in 2001, but Midwifery is my passion so I've decided to do it while I can.
I have a 10 month old daughter, Elizabeth (although I call her Lilli) and we're hoping to squeeze another one in this year, so he/she will be about 10 months when I go back to uni.
I have always thought of nursing, mainly because my nan was a nurse, but only thought of midwifery when I was pregnant myself. The whole team was amazing, and my midwife was just wonderful (I actually shed a tear when it was time to hand over to the HV). I'm involved in my local baby cafe, as a peer support advisor for breastfeeding mums (only stopped 6 weeks ago myself, and that was because Lilli rejected me!), I'm also hoping to get some work experience with my community midwives or at the N&N hospital.
I want to see, experience and learn as much as I can before I go. Mainly because I HATE interviews and am reallu rubbis at them, so if I know loads I wont panic so much!
I'm so pleased I found this site, to learn from you all and share the experience.

A x

Hi Pauline,
Thanks for the welcome and the compliment - I agree with you about Lilli, but then perhaps I am a little biased.
Where are you studying? How are you finding your first year?
TC,
A

Hi Amanda,

You are very welcome,

We are all biased about our own children, so you aren't alone lol.

I am studying at Salford university in Manchester.

I am loving it so far, it is hard work, but well worth it. I love being on placement, as I prefer the practical to the academic side,

Pauline x

Hi Amanda - good luck with everything - I did the Understanding Health OU course last year as I was going back to study and found it extremely helpful (especially the bit about referencing in essays!)

Sounds like you really will know lots to take to your interview...good on you.
