I think both of your roles are quite superior to what a lot of others have had. I did some voluntary work on the postnatal ward, but we have ppl on delivery as well now, so perhaps that would be an idea-if not put your name down for some adhoc and request maternity (in through the back door!!!) xx

Hi princesskel

You sound like you have LOADS of work experience! I have so far only got 1wk observing on postnatal ward at my local hospital prior to my interviews, I have had two conditional offers based on this alone. I arranged my work experience placements myself by contacting the local hospitals training unit and they organised times and places for me. I have got a second week coming up when I will go out with the community midwives to observe. Other than this I have worked in call centres for 10 years so absolutely no caring experience at all!

You are MUCH better prepared than I was!

here here - think your two roles are absolutely plenty. They both you give you necessary but different experiences that are really relevant. Along with the bible that is the TPM i think you ahve got it just about covered!
good luck

hiya think your best bet would be to try working as an hca or see if theres anything you can do through the nct as maternity is quite hard to get onto, you cant actually shadow a midwife as they dont allow it, hope this helps a bit xx
