Default I'm New Too!

Hi everyone!

My name is Leilani. I live in California, and I'm currently enrolled in a distance course for midwifery as there are no schools in this State In future, I hope to live in a place where midwifery is more widely accepted, and has fewer restrictions.

Umm...I'm 33, married, have 2 children. I've always wanted to be a midwife, but didn't know how to go about it...or even how to find a midwife. I had 2 hospital births [cesareans], but plan to have a VBAC at home some day

That's it for now, I look forward to getting to know all of you xx

Good luck with your course, and look forward to chatting to you.

Hi Leilani!!

Welcome to the site, and good luck with your course!

Good to have you here, and hope you stick around?

Maybe you could come and practice midwifery here in the end?

We have just been watching 'The Business of being Born' Ricky Lake's documentary on here, have you seen it?

The business of being born

Click to see the post and click on the link there, I guess there will be no surprise for you, sadly.

I would love to study & practice in the UK! The only problem is convincing my husband I told him he could visit me there anytime, heehee.

I watched The Business Of Being Born a couple of weeks ago. Sad to say, I've experienced all those interventions. Monitors, IVs, pitocin, forceps, vacuum, and ultimately cesareans. If all those interventions are supposed to help, how did I end up with cesareans both times?!?!

Thanks for all the welcomes & wellwishes

Leilani xx
