Hi TallPoppy - Thank you for the welcome message . My name is Nicola - Sorry it has taken so long to post this , just trying to find my way around - not the best with computers .
I am applying for a place in 2009 in Bangor North Wales - so I am just at the begining of the whole process .
I currently work as a psychiatric nurse in forensics , so will have to do the whole 3 years - it has been 9 years since I qualified in psyc but have always wanted to be a midwife - and decided i'm turning 30 soon , and if I don't do it now I never will . I am concerned about the drop in money but hey this is my dream .
I have 3 beautiful children of my own Harry 4, George 3 and Mollie who is 10 months today . I also have the most supportive husband , John . We have been married for 10 years , and he is also a psyc nurse .
Even though I have studied at this level before I am still concerned about doing essays .
I want to get an application in now just in case anybody drops out for Sept 08 - and there maybe a possibility of a place . This happened in my RMNH training . But just looked at the UCAS form and bits of it are quite confusing to me - namely the reference bit .
I sure I will be using this site regularly in the coming years .

Nicola AKA Paddy

Hi Nicola

A huge welcome to the site!!

Good for you for taking the plunge, there are loads of us student to be's and student and midwives here all having the same experiences and tons of info to support your application.

Your family sound lovely too, nice to hear about them all. Is John supportive of your new career change?

There are lots of Bangor to Be's and students here too, plenty from Wales infact, a large contingent!! SO you're in good company!

Good luck with your application

Yeah John is extremely supportive in everything I do - couldn't ask for a better husband .

Have put my application in to UWB and will wait now - going to the open day on July 5th just to show my face and ask a few questions before they shortlist in November.

I have been thinking that maybe I should apply to Chester aswell as I have heard there are very limited places in Bangor and I just want to get on and do it now - despite the travelling everyday
What do you think ?

Throughout the ages, the rainbow has been the symbol of hope, a promise of better things to come. The ancient Greeks personified the rainbow as the goddess Iris, the favourite handmaiden and messenger of Hera, the queen of the heavenly court of Olympus. Carried by her shimmering wings, Iris travels so swiftly that mortals can see only the trail of her rainbow-coloured passage across the sky.
