Hi Carly

You sound a determined sorta person!
Welcome to the site, its a mine of info and support.

I cannot believe you were discriminated against because of your size! is that seriously allowed?? have you taken proper advice about this from the RCM? You can call them up to make sure size 6 is telling you the truth. I can only imagine how you feel I'm not little myself. I would take advice. Good luck girl!

Hi and welcome to the site.

Firstly, congrats on losing 4 stone, a huge achievement. Secondly, if midwifery is what you want to do then follow that dream and don't let no size 6 put you off, good luck and let us know how you go on and what you decide.

Lovely Carly, great to see you here and applying again. The person you refer to is no longer attatched to the Uni, so don't worry. I'm stoked that you have got your mojo back and I know you will be a fantastic midwife. I always said you should have been given that place!

The other access girls and I will all be routing for you. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

I am still a big girl - and bigger than when I started - and although scrubs can be a problem (I ended up buying my own!), the weight is not an issue.

The best of luck to you,
KS x

Hi Carly

Definately apply again and honestly feel really bad for you that you were discriminated against last time. I hope you are successful and hope to see you on here. Well done on losing weight!

Hi Carly,

Welcome to the site, and firstly congratulations on losing so much weight, that must have been so hard to do, but I admire your determination.

Secondly, how awful to be treated so badly, it is so wrong to discriminate against someone just because of their size. Midwives come in all different shapes and sizes, they are human beings at the end of the day, so are hardly likely to come in standard sizes.

I am so pleased that you are going to apply again, and I wish you all the luck in the world this time, lets hope that they look at you as a person, and not your size, because as long as you can do the job, it shouldn't even be an issue.

Hi All - I'm simply overwhelmed by all your responses - thank you all.
I was devastated when it happened and although normally quite strong, I lost the ability to fight. Regret it now of course, but going forward. Had my interview at Portsmouth yesterday - just gotta wait for decision! Wish me luck. x

Hi All

Looking back I can't believe I let her get away with it. Lots going on in my head at the time (you know how raw some things were Kentish Spitfire). Didn't have my usual feistyness. Not dwelling on the past though GOOD NEWS been offered at Bournemouth Uni for Sept 08 (East Side). No Fatists down South obviously .
