i'm nearly there!

I'm a fourth year student midwife at UCLAN. I have really enjoyed my training and would recommend the uni to anyone. But i have lost my enthusiasm for midwifery a little. Partially cos you are expected to get up at half five in the morning work your arse off like a qualified midwife and come home empty handed. Just looking forward to qualifiy now!

What are the job prospect like where you are?

The girls that have just qualified where I am have been given a temp contract for 18 hours a week which is lousy after three years of training - and considering how short staffed we always are on shift.

UCLAN is the University of Central Lancashire which is based in Preston. Its a four year course and the staff are really supportive. Where about are you studying?

Helloooooooooo Becky, good to see a few others on here from uni, hope all is well and the presentation is coming along nicely, as mine is not.
I know what you mean about the enthusiasm-the job situation and current low morale of the staff makes it hard work doesn't it? Hope your ok and coping with it, as I wasn't last year, and this year I can't get started.

Hi becky! So sorry you've lost some enthusiasm, it can be tough when you feel like you're doing sooooo much for basically nothing. I'm hoping the time flies by and it won't be long before you qualify!
