Default Though I would introduce myself since I have started to post!

Hi, I'm Lisa and as you can guess from my user name I am from New Zealand but have been living in the UK for some years. I wanted to be a nurse when I was a kid and read all my mum's nursing books, but only wanted to do nursing in either maternity or theater. I went traveling when I was 20 instead.
I now have been thinking about doing a midwifery degree for a few years now but always put it to one side as I have had a few miscarriages. Now I know what mine and my husbands problems are, and enjoy hearing of friends/sisters pg's as well as seeing their babies, I know I can do this without getting upset. Also I am very vocal about making mc's not a taboo subject in society. I talk very openly about mine with anybody who will listen. Which has helped me be much stronger about dealing with other peoples pg's!
I am starting a access course next month and am so glad I have found this site for any help and encouragement I will need along the path of becoming a midwife. And I also hope that I can give back what I get from here as time goes on. My husband is also very supportive and proud of me for wanting to do this after everything we have been though and probably go though, but I am so happy that I have this site for the times he wont be able to help me (he's not very good with icky talk!)
I look forward to getting to know everybody. And if you can't tell yet I like to waffle.

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the site, it's great that you have joined us.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages, I know how hard they are, but it is good that you feel able to help others who have also suffered them.

I am sure you will find lots of helpful information on here to help you in your journey into midwifery. If you need any help, just ask, and someone should be able to help.

thanks for the welcome.
Coffeebean, I am wanting Chester, but am also thinking of Manchester, Bangor (Wrexham campus) or LJMU. Just have to cope with traveling with the others were Chester is just down the road.
As for what I have gone through, if I don't managed to have a child I would love to help others bring new life in to the world. Also I believe that being around other pg women makes you more likely to fall and stay pg! Like when you live awhile with other women you all tend to have your period at the same time. Hormones are amazing!

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to the forum. You sound as if you will really be able to give something back to the women you care for and therefore, I wish you every success with your access course and your applications to Uni. You sound as if you have given this full consideration and have a determined but upbeat air to your post.

I too like to waffle, but I try hard to curtail it...lol (don't ask what my monthly phone bill is!!!)

Best of luck,
KS x
