Default Good Morning!

Hi all,
I am Heidi and I am a 3rd year student and this is my first post on this site! Training in Cambridge, currently in the middle of community placement and trying to figure out how to critique a research article!
Am 34, married, no kids, originally from NZ and have lived in UK for 7 and a half years.
Thats it in a nut shell!! Will look forward to reading the posts!

Hello Heidi Jane.

Welcome to the forum. Wow, that sounds stressful! Good luck with the rest of your training, how are you finding it so far?

When I started my training, the lecturers told us we would have "peaks and troughs" of emotions.....all looked at them like they were mad, because obviously when you train as a midwife, its all roses.....isn't it??
Well, for the most, I love doing it but currently having a bit of a trough but reckon its the literature critique thats doing that! I am sure I will come right!!
Deep down, I know I have chosen the right path for me and its going to be great! Have had 26 countable births and 8 of those were at home!! Wicked!
Its lovely and if you are just starting out, its one hell of a journey!

I feel very passionate about it. I have thought of midwifery as a career for a long time but life just ticks along and I never did anything about it. I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl just three weeks ago and that totally confirmed to me that it was something I just had to do. The midwife who delivered me was nothing short of amazing . . .what a wonderful woman. I really want to make other women feel the way I was made to feel.
I have lots of apprehensions, but I feel I will be able to overcome them and deal with them as they happen. I cant wait to get started . . .just hope I am successful in eventually finding a uni place.

Wow! Most students are lucky to see one or two, let alone get to count them! Well done!
