Drop in number of midwives joining the NHS in Wales, while the country's birth rateThe number of midwives joining the NHS in Wales dropped this year according to figures released today by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM). The figures from surveys of Heads of Midwifery (HoMs) and midwives form part of the evidence the RCM is submitting to the Independent Pay Review Body (IPR), which will recommend the pay award for midwives for 2008.
