East Midlands' recruitment rate falls while birth rate risesMidwife numbers in the East Midlands are dropping a new survey from the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) reveals. At the same time the region's birth-rate is increasing sharply. The figures from surveys of Heads of Midwifery (HoMs) and midwives form part of the evidence the RCM has submitted to the Independent Pay Review Body (PRB), which will recommend the pay award for midwives for 2008.
