The RCM's statement on the Conservative Party's proposal for Maternity NursesCommenting on the Conservative Party's plan to provide a dedicated maternity nurse for every new mother in her home for up to six hours a day for the first week after a baby's birth outlined in The Observer (Feb. 3rd), Louise Silverton, deputy general secretary, of the Royal College of Midwives, said the plan put the spotlight on post-natal care, but criticised it as expensive and unrealistic.
