The RCM comments on baby mix-up case at East Midlands Hospital

news provided
by the RCM
The Royal College of Midwives Board Secretary Breedagh Hughes expressed her concern at the incident at the Bassetlaw Hospital, where two babies were accidentally swapped. She said: "It is a very unfortunate situation. New born babies should have two identification bands – one on the arm and one on the leg. Midwives should check babies have these two name bands before they are released."

Isn't it common practice to make these checks on babies?

Hi all!

Im a bit of a newbie here..

I was interested in this news article because it happened to one of our own family when they were a child (luckily the mistake was quickly put right)

However I was looking p who Breedagh Hughes was and I came accross this
http://hiddenireland.wordpress.com/2...minal-charges/

If its true , how is she speaking on behalf of the RCM? Especially as she goes on to talk about investigations etc.......
