Top UK midwife to step down as Royal College General Secretary After leading the midwifery profession as General Secretary of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) for the last 10 years, Dame Karlene Davis announced today that she will be standing down from her post in October this year. Breaking the news to the UK Council of the RCM, Dame Karlene told midwives that whilst she was leaving the RCM's employment she still intended working to support midwifery and the NHS in the future.
