| Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Its about time we had something to shake up the old fuddy duddies and I think its absolutley wonderful. Im really happy for them both. They are getting so much stick to its unfair. So what if he lives as a man, he is still going to have a baby like millions of other biologiocal females and will need all the care and support from understanding health professionals. Im fascinated, I didnt know that periods could return to normal after such a long period of hormone therapy.... it says in the article it may be a hoax but it seems likely to me. Hes got the equipment so I cant see why it wouldnt be possible. Its a mind blower from 'what will other people think' but for me, I say congratulations and wish them all the best, they are going to have a family after 10 years together and that is wonderful for any couple. My mind runs away with me tho, images of a pregnant man, in labour, on the ward, its just wild! I love it and think its about time someone invented a new kinda family to test peoples boundaries, prejudice and discrimination. They are redefining the social roles in pregnancy and birth and I think its great.

| I do agree, I think that if they are happy, then good for them. I do wonder about a growing child though. Only from the point of view that they may get bullied and persecuted for their parents lifestyles. They are going to have a tough time, particularly in that part of America. How do transgenders/homosexuals and lesbians educate their children as to sexual orientation? And I wonder how many of those children get a hard time at school form peers? Also the impact on their sexuality as they reach theri teens? Not against it at all, but interested as to how it affects the children's lives.

| I thought that but then after the birth they will return to a picture postcard straight family with a mum and dad. Its the lifestyle that tends to be the problem for some, not the way in which the child arrived. I agree there will be some taunting but most people wouldnt believe it ever happened 'your dad gave birth to you' people would laugh it off. Its usually the gay lifestyle that freaks the mary whitehouses out 'you cant bring kids up with 2 mums or 2 dads etc' so I dont recon it'll be that bigger deal in time. I hope not too, for the kids sake. But people can be so cruel, who knows. The gay families I know educate their children to have choices. They arent forced into being gay anymore than than they are forced into being straight. Many gay families dont want thier kids to be gay because of the flack they have had about their sexuality and dont want their children to have to go through the same. I dont know any transgender families but Id expect itd be the same. They understand about prejudice and this makes them more understanding as parents if they do have a gay or future TG child. I guess it comes down to what you believe. Is sexuality nature or nurture? if you think nature then the child can be born into any family and have the sexuality it was born with but if you think nurture then the childs environment may affect thier sexuality - but I find that so hard to believe. I think its nature and you are born gay like you are born wit blue eyes, its just how it is. As sexuality is a spectrum people may be 100% gay through to the odd percent that dabble - again being bi sexual is how you are born in my view, so again you are what you are. I think the only influence nuture has is to squash the souls of children who are scared to tell thier parents they are gay. I have a gay sister and a gay best friend. My social life has always been more gay than straight and it hasnt 'made' me gay. Sexuality is so personal that it cant be forced, in my view. You are who you are and its everyone else who has to get thier head round it not you. Look at the extreme this couple had to go to to be together? to live as a man, is he really TG or a lesbian trapped in a part of american that wont let him be with the woman he loves? They have tough times ahead and I wish them all the best.

| I hope so too. Not that I know much about it to be honest. I have read articles concerning same sex partners using donor eggs/or surrogacy to have children, the problems is not those people it is everyone elses attitudes to it! Much as we profess to be a accepting society, we are not. These scenarios are becoming more commonplace, as long as they are different things won't change, how sad. No surprise though, seeing as many think it is wrong for an older woman to have IVF and have a baby..... I say let people do as they wish, whatever makes them happy. Life is too short.

| Oooooops, sorry. That serves me right for not checking before posting a thread. Thanks for moving me, whoever did I find it hard to take in that someone who seems very commited to becoming a man will kinda give it all up. But then I think about my maternal instinct and how that can control me and I guess that all the hormones in the world can't remove that from any woman. I wish them lots of luck, I just hope that this baby can grow up with the beautiful life it deserves and that the media dosn't make it into a freak show for the rest of it's life. I also think this could encourage lots of other trangender men to have babies

| I heard on the radio this morning thats its just a publicity campaign!! The couples neighbour was on the radio, saying if they were expecting a baby they had kept it well hidden and he didn't look pregnant at all, I don't know I don't really care one way or the other, it matters not to me, but she/he will make the most understanding partner/husband in the world ever-you couldn't wish for someone to understand more than he will!!!

| If it's true then good on them. If he's still got the equipment why can't he be pregnant. Society has got to become more open and face the fact that gender is not the same as it used to be years ago. I know it's going to take a long time for people to accept things like this but it's something that we may see more of in the future. I recently heard about a transgender woman who is having a baby through surrogacy, when the baby is born she wants to try breastfeeding it herself. As long as she gets the support and help needed with this I can't see anything wrong, to the outside world she will just be a mother breastfeeding her baby.

| I agree with you sassy, if not exactly the manly thing to do and the TGs I know are very anti anything male (I only know male to female and all of them have better legs than me the cows lol) so I imagine its the same but vice versa. However in this situation it seems he became a 'male' as where he lives wont support same sex relationships, but he still kept his female genitalia, just had the hormone injections to deepen voice, hair growth and breast reduction. The keeping of the female genitalia makes me think hes not 100% TG just kinda forced to live a man because of the unforgiving environment hes living in - he cant help falling in love with a woman despite being female genetically....... and has to pay for it with his gender identity, but I merely speculate.....
