oh my god- how could they let something like this happen?

what if she hadn't woken up BEFORE they buried her?!

What drugs would they have given her- do they use them in this country?!

This reminds me of a story that my aunt told me about her experience as a pupil nurse during the war. She was working a night shift during the blackout at Oldchurch Hospital in Romford, Essex. A baby was born and was stillborn (or so they thought) - in those days the baby was taken away immediately as it was thought too horrible for the mum to see or hold the baby. My aunt was then given the job of carrying the baby to the mortuary. The mortuary was across the compound of the hospital and necessitated a 5 minute walk outside. It was about 2am and she carried the baby alone to the mortuary wrapped in a blanket. It was completely dark due to the blackout.
When she reached the mortuary doors she sent up a little prayer and knocked loudly so that the attendent would unlock the door.
At this point the baby whimpered and then let out a lusty cry!
My Aunty Kathleen almost dropped the baby - and wet her knickers!!

That poor baby, two days of being left along with no food or touch. That is so scary.

how could they think the baby was dead? surely they must try to listen for a heartbeat or pulse before confirming the baby was dead?
