Got a 2000 word essay on the public health role of the midwife that I need to be making a start on soon and im going round in circles trying to think of something to base it on. We have to pick one area, not just do it as a broad topic. Everyone else seems to be sorted with what they're going to do and im starting to panic (which isnt helping!) So I would be very grateful for any suggestions that anyone has got, I need to pick something that I'l be able to find plenty of info on and I'd really like something quite original. Dont want much do I!

I have a couple of suggestions that might be helpful to you, although not sure if they are what you are looking for.

Sex education and teenage pregnancy, should be plenty of info on that.

Breast feeding support.

Smoking cessation.

I have got a book called Midwifery in Public Health which is really good, you may be able to get it from your library.

Thanks for the suggestions midwifemissy, is that book the Padraigh (or however you spell it) one? I think I'v seen it on amazon and was going to get it. Forgot to say that they would like us to base it if possible to public health issues in our trust areas, but im sure that your suggestions would be relevant in all areas so thanks for that I'l look into them.

Yes, that is the same book, I went a bit mad when I first started the course and bought quite a few books, but at least I don't have to keep everything crossed that no one requests them from the uni library just when I need them
