Hi Lou,

Congratulations on almost qualifying as a midwife, I wish you lots of luck for your future career.

I feel that being a midwife is providing seamless, holistic care to women, their partners and families. I don't view it as an art tbh, although I am sure others will disagree with that.

Science obviously is part of the role, but being caring, compassionate, and approachable are a large part of being a midwife I think. I feel she should also be an advocate for the women and their partners.

I haven't explained that very well, I know what I want to say, but can't think how to word it....sorry. But, hope it makes some sense?

A midwife from a expectant mothers point of view is someone who has all the answers even if it is to the stupidest of questions!!
Science is important but empathy is so much more valued to know you can talk to your midwife about something so alien to yourself as a first time mother is fantastic when they have patience and make you feel like you are the 1st woman ever to be carrying a child/giving birth is a fantastic gift to give to 1st time mums even if it takes alot of patience and biting your tongue the rewars will be always be most gratifying. From a mums point of view
