Check RCM website and TPM also has a good article regarding this and palpation called 'now, just pop up here dear:revisiting the art of abdominal palpation' ( Fundal Height measurement is discussed)

I know there is not a lot of articles concerning it, also try MIDIRS database

Do you mean measuring with a tape measure, or by palpating?

hi smwife and midwifemissy

ive done a search and found an article in the practising midwife, but ive not got it
its vol 3 no1 jan 2000 pg 10 , is that the one you mean, if anyone has this would it be possible for you to email it me, thank you.

midwifemissy i think im going more for the tape measure, but i need to back up my debate (does that make sense)i know its not reliable need the same midwife to do it to keep accuracy and that its the way the tapes held etc but i need evidence to back this up

sprry ive garbled that

Hi Groovychick,

I know what you mean, I haven't seen anything on that to be honest, but if it helps, while I am searching for the stuff I need I will look and see what I can find?

Just a thought, have you looked in the textbooks to see if it is mentioned in there, not sure if it is?
