Default How many references

Should you have from different sources in a 1000 word essay pretty please?

Is there a set number the uni's are looking for/expecting?

I am not sure either, but I guess there may be a minimum number they would expect. But, I could be wrong lol. Just thought I would ask and check.

When we had a 1400 word essay the lecturers expected 10-15 different references. Hope this helps!

Thanks Coco Pop, that's a great help. I could maybe get away with one or two less than that then.

OUr uni says about 1 reference per every 100 words or so and no less than 7 for 1000, but that was in 1st year, I think as you progress they expect much wider reading but I don't think there is a limit. But its difficult to get a reasonable comparison if its all ref's isn't it??

That is what I ws thinking, so far I have got 9, and need at least 1 more for my conclusion.

I find it really hard to write what I want to say as well as reference it, but I guess that will come in time.....I hope.

Thanks tracy. xx

yeah you'll be fine, it is difficult I think to write such a short essay, I would really struggle, I'm always well over my word count, I think its hard to get into the nitty gritty of a topic with 3000 words let alone 1000 lol

I agree 100%, that has been part of my problem, but I am almost there now, just a little bit of an introduction, and my conclusion and it is done phew lol. I just need to do a bit more searching to find something to back up what I want to say about the difficulties a midwife would have in providing skin to skin, I know what they are, and what I want to say, but need to find something to back that up grrr.

what about the old "hands off argument" as we aren't supposed to do that any more, so what you could quote is the ideological view of hands of to assist but as frequently witnessed in practice.....
