Default Oxytocin receptors

Right, I'm having a really thick day today

Does anyone know of any articles etc that say what the oxytocin receptors do in simple terms.

I have to write about the first stage of labour in just 1000 words. So far my sentence goes.....

Dehydroepiandrosterone is then converted into oestrogen by the placenta and it is this cycle of events that increase the amount of oxytocin receptors........

But I want to now say in as few a words as possible what the receptors do and I need to reference it I have used Tortora for this part of essay but that just says that the receptors form gap juctions in uterine muscle, but again, dosen't explain what the gap junctions do
I'm at the point of leaving it out, but I know I'll get the 'explain in more detail' comment and I'd rather avoid it, 1000 words!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help, Sarah x

Thanks for those smwife. How does this sound???

. Dehydroepiandrosterone is then converted into oestrogen by the placenta and it is this cycle of events that increase the amount of oxytocin receptors (Tortora 2006). This increase in oxytocin receptors make the uterine muscle much more sensitive to oxytocin which then causes the uterus to contract, the beginning of labour contractions (Soloff et al and Caldeyro-Barcia & Theobald).

They did help, but I didn't end up using them. I found another one that was very simple , but was a pian in the bum to reference

It's like the pleasure pain thing, you get pleasure, but then it's followed by pain .

And I've just tried rubbing out the full stop after my sad face cos I though it was some dirt on my screen . I think it may be time for a break, I'm going slightly mad!!!

Look at those 2 for references!!! I have just emailed my lecturer to ask her to check them as I think I need to add more! I wouldn't mind but they are both for one sentence Who invented referencing? I could shoot them!!!!
