I foung this article really interesting and I think that there's quite a bit on communication between midwives here (have got this a s a pdf if you don't have access):

Hunter, B. (2005) 'Emotion work and boundary maintenance in hospital-based midwifery', Midwifery, 21, 253–266

Also:

Betts, A. (2002) The Nurse As Communicator. In (ed) Kenworthy, N., Snowley, G., Gilling, C. Common Foundation Studies in Nursing. London: Churchill Livingston

Ellis, R. B., Gates, B., Kenworthy, N. (2003) Interpersonal Communication In Nursing Theory and Practice. London: Elsievier Science Limited

you could try this one as well,
Lucas, M. (2006) Think before you speak The Practising Midwife 9 (4) p 46

i think The New Midwifery, Science and Sensitivity in practice, Lesley Page might be a good place to start also

probably jumpimg the gun a bit but I know that my first assignment will be on communication and would like to start just reading around the subject, so was wondering if anyone had any articles that would be useful?

I can't work out how to access online journals through the university library system yet so if anyone has anything they could actually send me via email I would be eternally grateful!!

Ta!

Thanks hun, I have read the communication bit in Mayes but I don't have the latest edition, don't know if that makes a difference. I know we will get help I'm just at a loose end today so wanted to do something constructive.
