It all depends on if you need it really, it does come in handy.

It is payed in 3 payments over the year, unless you dont get the full amount because i know a girl in my cohort got her payment in one lump sum because she didnt get the full amount, not sure how much she got though.

Everyone on our course gets a student loan (as far as I know) I've had one aswell, I don't know where the money went though!!! But it must have come in really handy, easiest way is to apply for the none means tested, far less forms to fill in and you get about £2100 per year over 3 payments (if you have own house) its up to you the repayments don't start until you are earning enough to pay it back x

Of course, but why should there be nastiness??? I haven't a nasty bone in my big body, I didn't think they needed all bursary info for non means tested, they usually just do it, as you can apply for it well before bursary have sorted emselves out. In my 1st year it took 6 months I was in desperado situation by then, and on hold for an hour at a time, I think its improved since then but thankfully I've had no problems since x

I was informed today that I would be entitled to half the full maintenance loan amount which would give me £2,855. Its interest is linked to inflation so is the cheapest of loans. I was advised to take the loan even if I didn't need it and put it into some kind of investment because interest paid on the amount would be more than the interest charged.
