Default No bursary!!

be warned i am going to have a slight rant here......

Ive just found out that i am going to get no bursary!!

i have not lived with my parents for the last 4yrs and i have supported myself during this time but because for 3 yrs of this i was doing a degree i can not be classed as an independent.... whose idea is this i worked hard in bars to support my self in my first degree but casual work during full time education is not acceptable!

so i cant not be classed as a independent and if i am a dependent i have to declare my parents earnings.. firstly they are not supporting me financially through this and secondly if i put this on the form i will still receive nothing as they earn too much.

i know that it is not just me that is having this problem, i now have to get a part time job to support my self and while this is not too bad at the moment i wont be able to do this through out the whole 3yrs!
i have applied for student loan and over draft but that will only get me so far.

has any one else worked a part time job during there course? were u able to fit it all in??

any way rant over

Emma

I'm sorry things aren't going too well for you. Good luck with the job search.

I have friends that worked during their degree and found it difficult to get jobs that fitted around thier shifts, however its isnt impossible. One worked one night a week in a childrens home and the other worked at a bowling alley. As long as you are organised I guess it should be straightfoward.

However I understand its difficult to be put in this position esp as you dont want to have to ask your parents for money and have lived independently for years........

Big hugs

Quite a few friends and aquaintances do HCA shifts at hospitals/care homes etc. It seems to work well, though they have to trun down alot of shifts at times due to placement. It is doable.
