Re: Confused!! To be seen as independent from your parents you apparently need to be over 25, have a child or have lived away from home for 3 years (not including time spent in education). I was given the impression today that awards tend to be effected when your total household income exceeds £60,000. This was a financial talk (20/03/08) about student loans and grants etc. I'm not sure if the NHS use the same system as it wasn't applicable to me, but I wasn't told anything different.
Your local county council will be able to advise you on loans and how you would need to apply. From what I gathered you and your parents would all have to go online and apply separately (confidentiality). You get given a code to link the seperate applications. Then you all need to send proof of income off to the offices. If your parents don't comply you wont get an award. You wont have to go through the same process for a means tested NHS Bursery as they can access this info too. The maintenance grant is already covered in the NHS bursery so they aren't available, just half the full maintenance loan amount.
I hope this helps you. I'm confidant its correct as far as Lancashire County Council goes but please ring your own to confirm its accurate. I'm only human and it was a really long boring presentation!! |
