Yeah do, you can apply for the access to learning fund, its mega loads of pages long, however!!! It is none repayable, good time to apply is whenever you can (obviously) but a tip is-even if they turn you away you can go to them at the end-or nearish of the term and if they have money left in the pot they will be more forthcoming with it-so try and try again!!!
As for the student loans as far as I know you can apply early, but only if your applying for the none-means tested one (I think, well I did years ago) its worth a try anyway, but TBH I'm not up to date with the loan stuff now, cos I've been getting em for that long now!!!

You are entitled to the non means tested loan. If you are on very low income you can fill out the rest of the forms and apply for means tested and possibly get a little more (I am applying for this one this time around). You don't have to be receiving a bursary to get the loan (one of our seconded students gets it, and in fact gets a little bit more because she doesn't get a bursary .. despite being waged but heyho!)

Groovy, I am so sorry

I don't have any advice to give, is it more income you need or a lump sum? Do you have anyone to help you out?

Oooooh Groovychick,

That's awful, have you tried the Citizens advice bureau, or welfare rights see if they can give you any advice?
I wish I could be more help, but I don't know what else to suggest, really hope you can sort something out.

Hope you get some sense on Monday Groovychick, they shouldn't be able to do that these days, it is just not right. If you weren't offering to pay then that would be different, but you are doing the best you can.

The hardship/access to learning can help you out at uni, all of us are on means tested bursays and some of our girls get it!! Even if you aren't eligible they can loan you money as a matter of urgency, I definatley suggest citizens advice though, and the uni funds as like I say they may be able to get you out of this situation xxx
