ah, Groovychick
sorry to hear your news hun, sending big hugs.
Echoing tracyb, cannot stress enough about the access to learning fund, a national scheme, administered locally through your uni. Also, they will administer the NHS hardship fund for childcare costs (could be relevant for you?). They will also have a crisis fund that you may be able to dip into. Grab an appt with your Student Support peeps ASAP!
as well as CAB and all others mentioned xxxxxxxx
hpe it all works out for you

Yeah if you are getting a non means tested bursary you cannot get a student loan, however if your bursary is means tested and you are on a degree course you qualify for a student loan - you cant claim for tuition fees but you can get the student loan for maintenance. Been looking into this a lot as I am looking to apply this sept to start in Sept 09 my 2 main choices are bangor and chester - one does a means tested bursary and the other does a non means tested - been trying to figure out which one I will be better on financially - makes me go cross eyed trying to figure it all out especially when they take my partners income into consideration - I will get next to nothing but I know that we will struggle without my wage coming in as I have a lot of outstanding debt from when I left my ex husband!!! I'm sure I will cope, I have been waiting years to be able to do this and since leaving my violent and controlling marriage I am finally free to live my dream and if it means I am skint then so be it!!
