Heloooo!

I have got a place for Edge Hill starting in September wooohooo and I am a little confused about the whole process of getting loans etc.

Just wondered if anyone knew when and how I would apply for these, does uni give you advice, info or are you supposed to do it alone?

Hi Emma,

If I remember correctly, your uni will send a list of the successful applicants to the student grants unit once the places have been firmly accepted, and the SGU will send the forms out to you. If this has changed since I trained, I'm sure someone here will put me right!

You can apply for your loan now at www.studentfinance.co.uk and the bursary forms are sent from uni nearer the time.

I have to apply for financial help from my local education authority by the 20 something of this month if i want to get the first installment when i start, i think its a part loan and then i'm waiting for the forms from the NHS bursary people (although i've been told they can take a while to come through) if i was you i would ring up your local education authority and find out what you can claim for them
