HI, I've already got a student loan from when i did my previous degree, will i be able to take out another loan for midwifery or are you only allowed to have one? Hope I can i'm already worried about money!

Hey hun, I am the exact same position as you!

Last year I did my first year of a teaching degree and took out a loan, and want another for when I start midwifery in september. I rang up and he said it was absolutely fine. Apparently you get a limit of 4 or 5 years of student loan, I have used one of them. Slightly confusing but yes you should be fine, phone up if you are unsure!

Yorky is your previous degree complete?

I only say, because a friend of mine can't get another loan. You should be able to if it wasn't healthcare, but not always as hers wasn't.

I would ring and find out asap, hope it's good news.

Yes completed it. It was Business Management. Doesn't sound too good on the loan front i think i'll have to give them a ring. Does anyone know the number i should ring? Thanks for all your help.

You'll need to ring your local LEA, they deal with student loans.

what news of loan?
would be interested in knowing the time span rule. I probably fall well out of the scale but would be good to know. I graduated in BA Music in 1996, and therefore wasn't allowed another student loan ....ggggrrrrr. Have tried appealing against decision but to no avail......YET.

I completed ,my first degree in business studies 2007 and was awarded a loan for this midwifery degree it was the basic 2210.00 so i shouldnt really see why you shouldnt get it aswell.

because you fall into this 5 year rule thing that i dont quite understand that emsi has mentioned. I fall out of it so guess that's why i was turned down?!
