Hi, I don't think so!! When I did my nurse training I thought the amount of bursary would alter the amout of tax credit received but it didnt! They don't count it as an income as it's a grant and so you receive the child tax element. It worked out better for me at the time! Do the online calculation but dont include your bursary in it and it will give you a rough idea!
Hope that helps a bit, it can be quite confusing!

if you go to entitledto.co.uk that may give you an idea - has a calculator and if you put in various bits and bobs it sayshow much you are likely to get - includes housing benefit, tax credits etc

I believe for council tax and housing benefit they ARE classed as an income. Even a loan if you're not applying for one as thats income AVAILABLE to you.

You will still get 25% discount on council tax if part of a couple, or exempt if single.

so i have to declare what is on my P60 for last yr, and then declare what i am GOING to be getting for this yr, on paper it looks good but i won't get anything, its completely unrealistic as i am actually only recieving part of what i am declaring for forth coming yr *makes sense to me but am going round and round in circles* also on entitled to .co.uk i dunno what to put where so maybe its even worse i dunno

However a quick call to local housing office (why i didnt do that earlier is beyond me lol) has resulted in teeny glimmer of hope, she says it is likely i can get housing benefit, i shall fill in the forms regardless

I was told by Stomham HomeStay that students (this may just apply to lone parents who study) are entitled to full HB and, of course, CT. there'sa charity inmy area called community legal advice who give advice on benefit entitlements - if you call them they will put in your bursery figures etc and tell you what you can get :-)

Anecdotal, so no one shoot me!!

The only ones I know of on the course who get housing benefit are those who are single mums.

They do not get the full rent paid, but most of it.

I applied and wasn't eligible, so it's worth a try
