Default Help!! physiology of raised postnatal bp?

Dont know where to put this question so feel free to move it somewhere more suitable. Been looking through my a + p books but cant find what I need so was wondering if you lot could help please. If someones bp is fine antenatally and rises during labour what causes it remain high postnatally? No oedema, very slight trace of Protein in Urine and no other symptoms, mother actually feels well! She's six days postnatal and on labetalol (not sure if I'v spelt that right ) but it's done nothing. Will someone please blind me with science!
