Default Petition for Modified Early Obstetric Warning System (MEOWS) charts

Jessica's Trust was started as a campaign by Jessica Palmer's husband, Ben, in early 2007. Jessica tragically passed away from childbed fever, after the uncomplicated birth of their second child.

By signing the petition you will be helping to save lives. You will be asking the the Prime Minister to ensure that every new mother has regular observations recorded on a Modified Early Obstetric Warning System (MEOWS) chart in hospital and in the community and is given clear information and advice on the recognition of childbed fever (also known as puerperal fever and genital tract sepsis) and that doctors and midwives are given clear sepsis guidelines.

The petition has been submitted by Ben Palmer of Jessica's Trust – Deadline to sign up by: 03 November 2009 – Signatures: 2,851

Please add your name to the petition, today. There is only one month left until the deadline, lets support Ben to get the tremendous response his campaign deserves.

We have been promoting this all over Facebook too - feel free to copy and paste and add to your wall/status like many SMNET'ers are

A consultant obstetrician in my trust has developed a MOEWS Chart to be used within our trust - They look fantastic - MUCH better than our current PARS charts. Hoping they'll be in use soon, but I'm sure they'll have to be piloted before they roll out. I think we desperately need them in community settings - if only to prompt community midwives to perform full observations, rather than asking quesitons and ticking the boxes in the notes (in my trust notes, anyway)...
