Default Clinical skills re-sit

I have got the re-sit for my clinical skills exam tomorrow morning, and I am really not looking forward to it.

I have revised as much as I can, but the information just doesn't seem to be staying in my poor frazzled brain

If I fail again tomorrow I have to redo the module, that is bad enough in itself, but I don't get paid whilst I am doing it

Don't get me wrong, I am going into this with every intention of passing, but I can't help but think what will happen if I don't.

I would definately have to drop out of the course, as there is no way I can manage with no money while I redo the module.

It makes me so mad that some of us are in this postion so early in the course.

Fingers crossed for you today Missy, Im sure you will be fine. I agree its a position that shouldnt happen in your first year. If I remember rightly you guys dont get a practice OSCE which is crucial in my opinion as at least you get the idea f what they are all about, what they are looking for etc. Id approach your uni about this as it may be the difference between staying and going for many ppl in the future. But not you Missy! You'll be fine xx

Hi,

I was tested on blood pressure and pulse, I totally messed it up last time and knew before I left that I had failed. But, I had been very stressed leading up to it, and was a total wreck by the time I went into the exam.

Thanks TallPoppy,

I THINK/HOPE I have done enough to pass this time, I was a lot more relaxed, and didn't panic like I did last time. I will find out tomorrow if I have passed or not.

We only had one brief lesson on each of the clinical skills, eg, blood pressure, pulse, infection control, Urinalysis. We then had to teach ourselves and learn whilst on placement.

The thing is, I can do the skill no problem on placement, cos it isn't a false stressful setting, but in an exam situation it is totally different, and I know that the tutors are aware straight away if you are doing it wrong, most ladies aren't

But, whatever happens now, I know i did my best, and I couldn't do anymore than that.

Pauline xx

Default Re: Clinical skills re-sit update

OMG, I have done it, I have passed wooohooo lol.

If it had been my first attempt I would have got 60% on both skills, but as it isn't my result is capped at 40%, but I don't care, I did it
