Default Suggestions appreciated

I am trying to get all the bits and pieces together for a presentation I have to do on skin to skin and APGAR scores.

I have got a couple of nice a4 size poster type pictures showing mum & baby in skin to skin, a small leaflet explaining what it is and the benefits, and an information sheet on kangaroo care showing dad holding the baby skin to skin.

For the APGAR score part, I have got a blank APGAR score sheet to pass round, and a picture of Virginia APGAR, that's all I can think to use for my 'visual aids' for that.

As I struggle to actually do my presentation, have eye contact with everyone and still know where i am up to. I wanted to have quite a few visual aids to help me present the information. ( I have tried using cue cards, and I still get lost as to where I am up to)

I did think of asking to borrow one of the dolls we use at uni, I thought that would be a good way to demonstrate a 'flat' baby. But then can't shsow what a healthy baby looks like aagghhhh.
I know I could do my presentation on powerpoint, and I did that last time, it did help, but I wanted to do something different this time if I could.

Any suggestions or advice would be welcomed.

Thanks for reading this far

Hey there lovely Missy

Id borrow the doll and hold it on its back so its arms and legs go loose, that way it will indicate poor tone. Id also have a blue post it or something else sticky and write an APGAR score on it and stick it on the baby. Then Id talk about low APGARS and use the baby as a visual aid, pointing out the blue colour (cynanosed), its limp tone, the fact its not responding to stimuli, that its is silent and say that its has not taken and breath and has a heart rate <100.

Then Id swap to a pink post it and have a good APGAR score written on it and stick it on the babys torso again and hold the baby on its back and wriggle its arms and legs from below (IYKNIM!) and then show its a pink colour, has good tone, is squealing away and has a heart rate of >100.

Then you have some really good visual aids there

What a brilliant idea TallPoppy,

It just goes to show, two heads are better than one, I had come up with part of the idea, just couldn't see how to get it to work.

Thanks for your help hun, that sounds like an ideal way to do it.
