Doctors aren't all bad!

Had a positive day today, at last!

Today I worked with a consultant at his fortnightly clinic.
He greeted me by saying welcome and shaking my hand (!)

He did the talking as these were all high risk owmen and most booked for elective sections at the high risk unit. They had many varying reasons and conditions with complicated current or previous conditions. It was very interesting. He was also a very considerate and caring doctor.

My job was to do Bp's , palpate (attempting to define position,essential for some of these women, Fundal Height measurement, again important as some are macrosomic or suspected IUGR) and then auscaltation.

It was terrifying, being shut in with a doc and having to try to prove myself!

But, you know what? it was ok!

When he left he said nothing, then came back and said he was impressed by my palpations! (not blowing my own, but hey, I rarely get nice things said and lately things have been pretty tough with some mentors) so no my head has not grown and I was completely out of my depth and awe inspired but at least my best was good enough (for once!)
