In my trust there are new EU regulations coming in soon where everyone who works for more than a 6 hour shift has to go off the ward and have a 30minute break. Anyone else heard about this?

That doesn't mean that its practical to do that, does it? I think most people work through because without working through the care of women would be compromised

When I want a cuppa, whether it be sitting reading a mag or reading a ctg, I always hint by asking my middy if she would like a cuppa tea. Nine times outta ten she will say No but you go get one.

I didnt say it was practical, I think it's a bit silly, especially as now we are able to have a paid 20min break on ward, which is usually taken at a bit of a quiet time, whilst still being able to keep an eye on things. The new regs mean we have to go off for half hr (unpaid) whether we want to or not.
