Not really sure if im posting in the right forum bit ...
but i was just wondering if anyone knew what we need to buy before the course starts??do we get a list from the uni on what we need to get? such as books etc and other implements??
I know the course doesnt start till september but im really keen to get everything ready ...especially if its gonna cost a lot of money so i can spread the cost over the next few months!!

J ™ is planning to get together some packs of essential items for new student midwives, so maybe you will want to wait a little while and see if you would like one of them, they will be cheaper than buying things one at a time in the shops?

I would get one of the packs they look great and also get yourself a Mayes or Myles they pretty much cover everything you need as a good starting point xx
Also a good anatomy and physiology book, Stable is good, but I think for starting off its a bit wordy and too deep, so perhaps the Wylie book, Anatomy and Physiology for midwives (or something similar) is an easy starting book x
Also the Johnson and Taylor book, skills for midwifery practice
Otherwise, just lots of black ballpoints, folders paper, shed loads of spare ink for your printer etc...

It is whichever you prefer, I personally preferred Myles, so bought that one. I suggest looking at both, then deciding whcih you like best.

I would also get a stethoscope, as most community mentors (IME) don't like sharing. Also a pinnard for community, so then your mentors have no excuse to not teach you to use it, though ideally they should all have one and use it.
