Default The difference?

Not sure this is the right place to post this......

I am new to researching the midwifery course and from reading a few posts discovered you can no longer do the diploma.

Can anybody explain what the difference is between the degree & the diploma?

Money mainly, from what I can gather. If you do the diploma you qualify for a non means tested bursary but with a degree you only get a means tested bursary. The resaoning I believe is that they want all midwives to be qualified to degree level and so are getting rid of the diploma. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me.

I'm doing degree and still get a non means tested bursary. I don't think the diploma is running any more tbh, I think their phasing it out!

in the diploma course the credits in the last year are less around 60 for the degree programme is 120 same as the previous 2 years....so theres more work involved in the last year at degree level and with a degree you can move up the promotions ladder quicker once qualified

Mr Melvin from NMC came to do a wee inspection visit at Uni last week. He said that anyone currently enrolled on diploma course will be able to complete, but no new courses running as from Sept this year. The info re. non means tested is correct. The info about career progression with a diploma is also correct.
I addition, i think it is correct to say that you would not be able to do an MSc if you only had the diploma.
